This photo was taken in 1965 after the Beatles had returned to the UK from playing at the Shea Stadium New York which had been the highlight of their tour. Lennon had picked up this box in a novelty store in New York which had been sold to him as an ‘UFO Detector’, it had lights that went on and off intermittently and he brought it to the shoot for the amusement of the studio team.
