"In 1970, I was contacted by Elektra Records in New York City to do a job taking photos of Iggy Pop and the Stooges at the Whisky A-Go-Go and to do a portrait of the band in the studio. In retrospect, I can’t think of a better venue for the band. The Whisky was the classic spot. The Iggy and the Stooges show introduced the band to the Hollywood hipster set. There was definitely a buzz. The Stooges had a unique, raw performance style, with a chaotic, magnetic, unpredictable lead singer in various forms of undress. Iggy reminded me a little of Jim Morrison." - Ed Caraeff

Ed Caraeff is an acclaimed American photographer, illustrator, and graphic designer, recognized for his significant contributions to the music industry. He has art directed, photographed, and designed over 400 album covers for iconic artists such as Elton John, Tom Waits, and Dolly Parton. His legendary photograph of Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival is one of rock's most iconic images, appearing twice on the cover of Rolling Stone. His work is part of the permanent collection at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
