About this photograph

Debbie Harry of Blondie wearing a red dress photographed by Allan Tannenbaum in 1978 using a ringflash against a red background.

As the photo editor and chief photographer for the SoHo weekly news from 1973-1982, Allan Tannenbaum assiduously documented the explosive NYC music scene of the ‘70s. It follows that his archive includes an image of Debbie Harry, whose band Blondie was a defining part of NYC punk in the ‘70s.
