Allan Tannenbaum

Allan Tannenbaum, born in Passaic, New Jersey in 1945, is a renowned photographer known for his iconic images of New York City’s vibrant art, music, and political scenes from the 1970s onwards. He started his career as a photographer for Rutgers University’s newspaper and later became the Photo Editor and Chief Photographer for the SoHo Weekly News from 1973 until its closure in 1982. Tannenbaum’s work includes legendary photographs of musicians like John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, and The Rolling Stones. He has covered significant historical events globally, including the 9/11 attacks, and has published several acclaimed books. His work has been widely exhibited, and he continues to live and work in Manhattan.
