Brian Duffy (1933–2010) was a visionary British photographer who helped transform fashion and music photography during London’s "Swinging Sixties." Alongside David Bailey and Terence Donovan, Duffy revolutionized the industry with his bold use of the 35mm camera and avant-garde style. His collaboration with David Bowie produced some of music’s most iconic images, including the legendary Aladdin Sane album cover, often called the "Mona Lisa of Pop." Beyond Bowie, Duffy’s editorial work for Vogue, French Elle, and The Sunday Times and his campaigns for brands like Smirnoff cemented his reputation as a creative force.
Duffy’s photographs remain highly collectible and influential, with his work displayed in prestigious galleries worldwide. In 2013, his Bowie portrait was the lead image for the Victoria & Albert Museum’s blockbuster David Bowie Is exhibition, seen by over 1.5 million visitors globally. This enduring recognition underscores Duffy’s legacy as one of the most impactful and sought-after photographers of the 20th century.
