In 1973, photographer and designer Jimmy Wachtel, along with his creative partner Lorrie Sullivan, were commissioned to create the album cover for two then-unknown singer-songwriters, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. About the photographer
Jimmy Wachtel is an American photographer, art director, and designer whose work helped define the look and feel of 1970s rock and roll. Based in Los Angeles during rock’s golden age, Wachtel became deeply embedded in the music community, developing close creative partnerships with artists including Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Warren Zevon, Joe Walsh, Bob Dylan, Michael Stanley, Jo Jo Gunne, and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. His designs include The River for Bruce Springsteen, Running on Empty for Jackson Browne, The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get for Joe Walsh, and the now legendary Buckingham Nicks for Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Over his career, he has created more than 50 album covers and an equal number of movie posters, collaborating with some of the era’s most influential musicians.
