About this photograph
British photographer Steve Rapport had just moved to the US when he got an assignment from UK’s Vox magazine to photograph Coolio retracing the steps where he grew up. This photo was taken at Watts Towers, a monumental architecture sculpture designed and built by Simon Rodia. After the photoshoot Coolio took him to another LA landmark, Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles.

About the photographer
Steve Rapport is a London-born photographer known for his striking images of music icons from 1981 to 1995, including Bruce Springsteen, Annie Lennox, and David Bowie. After moving to Northern California in 1992, he opened a martial arts school in San Francisco. In 2004, Steve returned to photography, reigniting his creative spark with a Leica digital camera.
