    About this photograph

For the cover of Darkness on the Edge of Town, Frank Stefanko photographed Bruce Springsteen in a modest room that evokes the lives of working-class Americans, those searching for redemption, people transcending time or space. The image was designed to resemble an old Kodacolor snapshot, something you’d find in a drawer. Stefanko’s portrait captures the emotional core of the album and the characters Springsteen wrote about.
