Bob Dylan was one of the first two guests The Band planned to invite, along with Ronnie Hawkins, because of their pivotal roles in the group’s story. His performance was the perfect exclamation point to The Last Waltz. He was there at the start for The Band, and he helped them finish it in exhilarating fashion. Photograph by Larry Hulst.
