"In 2018, Barns Courtney invited me to document his time in the studio writing his second record out in Carmel, CA. We drove up the California coast and settled into a chateau at Folktale Winery where we lived and worked for a month. The entire trip was a riot. Absolute chaos, in the best way. But, there was a little cabin on the property that was converted into a studio where Barns wrote every day, which is where this photo was taken. It was one of the rare moments of stillness; where all the dust settled for a moment; and I think that’s why this photograph feels so special looking back— because it’s a moment of solitude amongst the wild." -- Paige Sara
