Silver Gelatin Print, limited edition, and signed by Robert Whitman
In 1977, two music managers in Minneapolis asked photographer Robert Whitman to take promotional images of an unknown Minneapolis musician, a then-19 year-old Prince Rogers Nelson. This image is part of a series that took place in Prince’s studio and on the streets of Minneapolis. Whitman claimed that he wanted to draw aggressiveness out of Prince for this image, which proved difficult. “These photos are the closest I could get to that [aggressive] vibe. Comb included!”
