Becoming Led Zeppelin
In 2022, a friend introduced me to someone with a box of old Led Zeppelin photo negatives. Intrigued, I agreed to take a look. Upon examining them, I immediately recognized them as missing images from the archive of Ron Raffaelli, a photographer I had represented for over a decade. His archivist confirmed their authenticity. I was able to acquire them, ensuring their rightful place back in the archive.
I was connected with Bernard McMahon, the director of Becoming Led Zeppelin, who artfully incorporated the rediscovered images into his new documentary film. After attending the world premiere, I can honestly say the incredible live performance sound and the band’s personal storytelling made this a memorable must-see.
In 1969, Raffaelli was introduced to Led Zeppelin and shot their first studio portraits at his Melrose Ave. studio. The band invited him to tour in England with them, and some of his rare live and studio images were featured in a 1969 US tour book.
These historic photographs are available as exclusive limited-edition fine art prints straight from the original negatives on Canson Baryta paper, complete with an official estate stamp and printed signature.
Alongside Raffaelli’s rediscovered images, I’ve curated a collection of Led Zeppelin photographs from our roster of photographers.
