Charlie Parker's style of composition involved interpolation of original melodies over existing jazz forms and standards, a practice known as contrafact and still common in jazz today.
Dillion ‘Curley’ Russell, a member of the Tadd Dameron Sextet. In his heyday he was in demand for his ability to play at the rapid tempos typical of bebop, and appears on several key recordings of the period.
William “PoPsie” Randolph was the preeminent paparazzo photographer of the New York music scene from the 1940's through the 1970's.
