Through Her Lens
For Women’s History Month, I’ve curated a collection from our female photographers showcasing their artistry and perseverance in a male-dominated field. Like many industries, newspapers, music publications, and concert promotion were dominated by men. Most photographers at nightclubs and concert venues were men, but a few determined women braved the challenging environment and stood their ground in the pits and clubs to pursue their craft. Their passion for music and photography drove them to fight for the best shots, and their tenacity earned them assignments from magazines, newspapers, and the record labels. Decades later, their archives stand as a testament to their talent. We honor the women who persevered, gained recognition, and earned the respect of their peers and the public.
