Opening Reception: Feb 20, 2026 from 7 – 9 pm
Join us on February 20, 2026 from 7 to 9 pm for the opening of Come As You Are. Held on Kurt Cobain’s birthday, be among the first to experience this photography exhibition honoring the sound, spirit, and legacy of grunge.
Musichead Gallery is proud to present Come As You Are: Grunge, Counterculture, and the Seattle Sound. This exhibition takes a wider look at grunge, highlighting the energy, ethos, and attitude that carried the music far beyond where it started. It celebrates the bands from the Green River to Nirvana to L7 whose DIY spirit and sludgy guitars continue to define the tension between underground values and wider visibility.
Featuring the work of eight acclaimed photographers, including three who documented the early Seattle scene, this show takes viewers behind the scenes of the early bands who blended punk, metal, and rock into a new sound. From intimate clubs to larger stages, the photographs document the rise of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, while capturing the broader cultural impact and enduring influence of grunge.
